› The Caribou School Department is a rural district drawing over 1,600 students from Caribou and several surrounding communities.
› The school system consists of Hilltop Elementary, Teague Park Elementary, Caribou Middle School, the Caribou Technology Center, and Caribou High School (CHS).
› Eighty-five percent of CHS students enter a post-secondary school, and over fifty-five percent pursue a four year college education.
› In March 1996, Redbook Magazine selected CHS as a "National Best School" and "Best of States." CHS is one of only four schools to be nominated by the Maine State Department of Education for Redbook recognition in the category of overall excellence.
› Recent research conducted at the University of Southern Maine placed CHS among the top three best performing schools in Maine based on Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) scores and the ability to improve performance.
› Challenging academic programs are balanced by quality extracurricular activities such as music, drama, and athletics.
› In order to endure that students have an active role in the community and are prepared for the workplace, each CHS student performs sixty hours of community service. Crucially, this program increases career awareness, builds self-confidence, teaches citizenship, and improves academic achievement.
