Our Mission »»

› The Caribou High School Music Building Fund is a student-initiated, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was created to promote music education and the benefits that it offers students. To achieve this goal, our mission is to build a $3 million music facility for the Northern Maine region.

› Without a proper music facility like those found elsewhere in Maine and throughout the County, there are added limits to students in Northern Maine and the education that they are able to receive. Students at Caribou High School recognized these limitations and took matters into their own hands. In 2004, a small group of students officially founded the non-profit and began the $3 million capital campaign. Since then, the committee has expanded to include other community members and has received immense community support. The fund has recevied endorsements from former Maine Senator George Mitchell and former Governor of Maine Angus King, and it's honorary chair is Senator Susan M. Collins.

› Once built, the facility will allow Caribou High School students to utilize the various music technologies and acoustically engineered practice spaces during the school day. After school, the center will be available for other regional performing groups and musicians. Serving as a beacon for music education in Northern Maine, the facility will not only provide a wider range of resources for musicians, but it will also add to what is an already rich culture throughout the region.
