To Whom It May Concern,

The Caribou High School Music Building project began in 2001 when a group of student musicians were discussing the needs of the music department. Over the years, participation in the school's band, chorus and strings music programs had increased, but the facilities had remained the same. As a result, students practiced in spaces that were cramped, shared with other activities, or had poor acoustics.

The students did more than note the inadequacies of the facilities and the challenges that the music program faced, they decided to do something about it. With the support and advice of their band director, they dedicated themselves to raising the funds necessary to expand the music facilities at Caribou High School.

From the beginning, the student-initiated fundraising group has worked closely with the Superintendent and the Caribou Board of Education. The Board approved the concept and endorsed their fundraising efforts in the fall of 2003. The Board has also been involved in selecting the architect/engineering firm and approving the building's overall design. Throughout the project the fundraising committee has kept the Board apprised of their progress and has continued to affirm their support.

It is truly rewarding to work with the present and former students who are the members of the Caribou Music Building Fund Raising committee. Their volunteer efforts will result in a marvelous facility that will greatly enhance the education of students for years to come. They themselves will never directly benefit from this project other than knowing that they supported a program that was an important part of their education. The Caribou Board of Education proudly supports their efforts.

Sincerely,
