Title: RESOLVE, TO DECLARE THE POSITION OF THE
CARIBOU CITY COUNCIL AS ADAMENTLY
SUPPORTING THE CARIBOU HIGH SCHOOL
MUSIC BUILDING FUND COMMITTEE IN
THEIR PROPOSED INVESTMENT IN
EXPANDING MUSIC EDUCATION,
PERFORMING ARTS AND CULTURAL
ENRICHMENT IN GREATER AROOSTOOK
COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the proposed expansion of facilities at the Caribou High
School and Performing Arts Center will accommodate current and
anticipated student capacities in the areas of music education and
performing arts within acoustically engineered facilities meeting all
anticipated areas of need; and
WHEREAS, the proposed addition of facilities at the Caribou
Performing Arts Center will create an educational environment fostering
opportunities in higher achievement within music education and
performance, performing arts and cultural enrichment; and
WHEREAS, the intent of constructing such designed facilities is for the
benefit of the greater Aroostook County Region thereby facilitating
large scale State and regional music festivals, diverse ethnic and cultural
performances and a regionalized facility to accommodate the collective
efforts of all area educational programs; andWHEREAS, there is an identified ability to provide regional economic
development opportunities based upon the creative economies that are
centered within the cultural exchanges and higher music educational
achievement of such facilities; and
WHEREAS, the community of Caribou has made substantial investment
in their educational music programs and the establishment of the Caribou
Performing Arts Center and has identified the necessity of expanding
these facilities to accomplish the Community's vision of music education
and the performing arts;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Caribou City
Council does hereby state their adamant support of the work performed
to date by the Caribou High School Music Building Fund Committee and
the proposed expansion of music education facilities at the Caribou High
School and Performing Arts Center.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Caribou City Council
recognizes the extraordinary efforts and tenacity of the Student Fund
Raising Committee in identifying the need, conceptualizing the project,
initiating a capital campaign, soliciting design and feasibility studies and
their continued initiative to accomplish a greater good for their
Community and Northern Maine through music education and cultural
enrichment.
